Applications of Hyperspectral Imaging

Hyperspectral cameras are used wherever other technologies reach their limits. Whether in industry, environmental monitoring, or security – our systems help make the invisible visible: precisely, quickly, and reliably.

Hyperspectral Imaging –
The Foundation of All Applications

Hyperspectral imaging captures not only visible light but a wide range of electromagnetic information. Cubert systems provide detailed spectral data that reveal chemical compositions, structural characteristics, and physical states. This makes properties visible that remain hidden to the human eye or conventional cameras.

This technology forms the basis for a wide variety of applications – from vegetation and material analysis to medical and biological examinations, all the way to industrial quality control and forensic trace detection.

Our snapshot technology captures the full spectral image in a single exposure. With up to 164 channels from the UV to the near-infrared range, it eliminates motion artefacts, which is particularly crucial for drone operations, environments with vibrations, dynamic scenes, or changing lighting conditions.

Engineering & Development:
Solutions That Fit

Our technology is built on the interplay of optical design, spectral analysis, and application-oriented development. This combination enables hyperspectral systems that operate reliably in laboratory, field, and industrial environments. It includes selecting suitable sensors, designing optical and mechanical components, and integrating software, calibration, and data processing.

Together with your team, we define the technical requirements and develop a configuration that integrates seamlessly into your application. This creates the foundation for systems that can be flexibly adapted to specific scenarios – from UAV and microscope integration to robust industrial setups.

We Provide the Solution

We develop hyperspectral systems that are precisely tailored to your field of application. The snapshot principle of our video spectrometers can be used across a wide range of industries and opens up new possibilities for precise spectral analysis.

If you would like to use hyperspectral imaging in any of the following areas, we will be happy to demonstrate the possibilities in a live demo:

1. Feasibility Study

In the feasibility study, we assess whether a hyperspectral solution can accurately and effectively represent your application scenario. We analyze the required wavelength ranges, the necessary frame rate, the spectral and spatial resolution, as well as environmental factors such as lighting conditions, motion, or vibration. Integration aspects such as optics, housings, or implementation on drones, microscopes, or industrial systems are also taken into account.

Based on this analysis, we develop an initial solution approach and create sample recordings or simulation data. You receive a clear technical recommendation outlining which camera, accessories, and configuration are best suited for your specific application.

2. Customization and Integration

We adapt our systems to ensure they perform optimally in your specific application. This includes customizing spectral ranges, resolution, and sensitivity, as well as developing dedicated optics, housings, and interfaces. Our snapshot technology can be flexibly configured—for example, for SWIR applications or different mechanical form factors.

We take into account requirements such as lighting, motion, vibration, UAV or UGV integration, microscopy, or industrial process conditions. The result is a system that integrates seamlessly into your workflow and delivers precise spectral data.

We have expertise in the following areas:

  • Spectral data analysis and algorithm development
  • Image analysis and processing
  • Hardware customization for your application
  • Development of lighting concepts
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Miniaturization
  • Optics design tailored to your requirements

3. Production and Licensing

Our ULTRIS technology is protected by several national and international patents. These cover key components of light-field spectral imaging, including:

  • ULTRIS hardware
  • Image reconstruction for light-field spectral imaging
  • Wavelength correction for light-field spectral imaging
  • Advanced software functions for light-field spectral imaging
  • Optical concepts for microscopy and endoscopy

These technologies can be integrated into your own systems or used as the foundation for new product lines. If you plan to deploy multiple devices or require a custom development, we work with you to develop a suitable production or licensing strategy.

If desired, we can also take over full manufacturing – including attractive licensing models for larger quantities.
