The Gamechanger
Cubert’s smallest-ever hyperspectral imaging camera is also its most affordable, offering a price point that can easily compete with RGB and multispectral cameras. By miniaturizing the core light field technology of the ULTRIS 20, we’ve created a hyperspectral video camera featuring a 5 MP sensor, measuring just 30 x 30 x 50 mm and weighing only 120 g.
No Compromise
The ULTRIS 5 is one of the smallest hyperspectral video cameras on the market and is a true workhorse, ready to integrate into a multitude of scenarios. It covers the same spectral range as the ULTRIS 20 (450-850 nm – VNIR), with a sampling rate of 8 nm, 51 bands, and a frame rate of over 15 Hz. With a resolution of 290 x 275 pixels, it offers more than 25 times the resolution of the FireflEYE V185, making hyperspectral imaging more cost-effective than ever before.
The Relay Lens Adapter
The new Relay Lens Adapter allows the mounting of any C-Mount objective onto both the standard ULTRIS 5 and the new HFR version. This adapter enables the instant attachment of various lenses, including macro optics or fisheye lenses. With the Relay Lens, the camera can even be mounted on complex optical systems, such as microscopes, endoscopes, or industrial inspection systems. This marks a significant step forward in bringing hyperspectral light field technology to biomedical applications.
High Speed Needed?
The ULTRIS 5 HFR is the 10 GigE version of our standard ULTRIS 5. While the camera properties remain the same, including a resolution of 290 x 275 pixels and 51 spectral bands covering 450-850 nm, the 10 Gigabit Ethernet port unlocks the full potential of the integrated Sony IMX250 sensor. The HFR version can deliver up to 75 Hz while retaining the 12-bit depth typically required for hyperspectral applications.
Perfect for OEMs
The ULTRIS 5 opens up new markets for HSI, thanks to its combination of affordability and performance. It is primarily targeted towards original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as we see a wide range of industrial and operational applications, from skin cancer detection to recycling triage.
Comprehensive Software
Cubert’s powerful HSI software, CUVIS, processes raw data, reflectance, and radiance, allowing hyperspectral videos at up to 15 Hz. The software supports initial analysis on recorded image cubes and live data streams. Spectral indices, customized plug-ins, and classification solutions can be applied in real-time. The powerful SDK allows seamless system integration, enabling live classification and custom mathematical functions either live or on pre-recorded data.

More InformationAdaptable
Like its big brother, the ULTRIS 20, the ULTRIS 5’s light field-based technology is highly flexible and can be adapted to specific application requirements. The ULTRIS 5 was designed for operational use in industrial and production environments. Its cost-efficient design makes it attractive for system integrators looking for alternatives to classic RGB-based machine vision or needing to design systems in high quantities. The ULTRIS 5 offers short delivery times, high reliability, and, combined with its internally developed SDK, easy integration into any control environment.
High-Speed Imaging with the ULTRIS 5 HFR
We recorded using the ULTRIS 5 HFR outdoors with a standard laptop and converted the data into four different visualizations: RGB true color, live spectra from two ROIs (Regions of Interest), chlorophyll absorption integral (CAI), and CIR infrared color.
Like any other Cubert camera, the super-light ULTRIS 5 is perfectly suited for use on UAS. Its low weight allows for mounting on very small, cost-efficient drones or integration into multi-sensor systems
The food industry’s appetite for hyperspectral imaging continues to grow. Hyperspectral imaging enables contact-free analysis of food quality on processing lines. The ULTRIS 5 offers the most affordable hyperspectral snapshot device available today.
Biomedical imaging supports physicians by providing the best available imaging information. Hyperspectral measurement methods add another dimension to image analysis, opening up new applications. The ULTRIS 5 offers the most lightweight and adaptable solution yet. It can be attached to all conventional microscopes and endoscopes.
Although designed for operational applications, the ULTRIS 5 is an easy-to-use but fully capable hyperspectral snapshot camera and can contribute to answering scientific questions.
Available in Two Different Housings
- Standard Lightweight Housing (IP40)
Weighing less than 130 g, this is the lightest-ever hyperspectral video camera - Industrial Housing (IP66)
Even for harsh environments, the ULTRIS 5 is fully prepared. The industrial IP66 housing protects the camera from splash water, haze, and dust.
Fully Compatible with perClass Mira
Recognizing invisible spectral features of products in production environments is a strength of the ULTRIS 5. perClass Mira helps set up automated algorithms for detecting relevant thresholds in the data, defining whether products pass or fail a quality test.
